It seems many websites, especially those related to shopping, are blocking connections from VPN IP addresses. In places like Vancouver and Seattle, several pages refuse access to users with those IPs. CanadaComputers blocks these connections entirely, making it impossible to ping the site even after disabling the VPN. This behavior feels unethical since users want privacy from random businesses tracking their location. Most sites rely on captchas, which I accept as a minor inconvenience. Have you encountered similar issues?

These VPN connections are often used by bots and malicious actors for unethical or questionable activities. It’s difficult to identify the source, and companies may need to restrict access if such behavior is detected.

This ensures your connection stays private and avoids sharing restricted IP addresses with many other VPN users.

Amazon, Newegg, MicroCenter, Canadian Tire, major banking platforms, and secure websites all seem capable of identifying this. It appears Canada’s computer restrictions are quite comprehensive. There might be more effective security approaches than simply blocking the most likely users who understand tech enough to try a VPN.

Support the idea but remain frustrated about having to disable my VPN frequently. It’s really annoying—I can’t even access Gmail smoothly with my automatic PIA settings.
