Weak frame rate in PUBG using a Ryzen 5800 X, RTX 3080 and 36GB RAM running at 3600MHZ.
Hello, a month ago I purchased a new PC (details available on my profile). Before buying components, I reviewed benchmarks on YouTube to ensure I could run 2K at 144Hz smoothly. The videos indicated that with ultra settings and 2K resolution, the system achieved 170-200 FPS in PUBG. Unfortunately, I consistently managed only 70-80 FPS regardless of adjustments—whether lowering the resolution, changing settings, or switching to lower resolutions. FPS fluctuated between 50 and 105, but stayed around 70-80 for most sessions.
I’m using a DOCP memory profile, which operates at dual-channel 3600MHz. The GPU stays at a maximum temperature of 55°C, while the CPU never exceeds 60°C. This felt like a CPU bottleneck due to limited core usage, so I used MSI Afterburner and HWiNFO to monitor performance, but thread activity rarely reached full capacity. PUBG managed to utilize multiple threads on the CPU, with one thread hitting its limit every few minutes. Overall, CPU load averaged around 12%, and GPU usage was about 35%, never surpassing 42%.
In my game lobby, I achieved roughly 200 FPS with over 90% GPU utilization. A friend who consistently scored higher in FPS tested his setup and reported similar numbers (~150).
My attempts included tweaking NVidia power settings, adjusting Windows power options, disabling GSysnc and HDR, overclocking the CPU, removing AI Suite, deleting graphics drivers with DDU, installing new PCIe slots (Gen 3), cleaning and reinstalling PUGB files, testing two memory modules one at a time, and running a stress test with CPU-Z in the background. Even then, FPS remained steady between 70-80.
I’m still unsure what’s causing this issue and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
Thanks for the update. I purchased components from several major stores in Turkey. Since many items were sold out, I had to verify availability and buy them individually over a span of two weeks across four different locations. Benchmark software performance was normal, suggesting the results are genuine; however, I’m planning to look into any online verification options. Additionally, I enjoyed playing Witcher 3 at 2k with smooth performance and achieved over 400fps on CS:GO. My only issue so far is PUBG’s frame rate at full settings.
Hello, I see you're experiencing some issues with your setup. All updates seem to be working now. You mentioned better FPS on your i5 6600K or similar, but sometimes it drops. Before you had the ASUS Maximus Ranger VIII, and there were times when FPS would drop significantly after certain updates for PUBG. In Overwatch, you faced problems with your old motherboard when ASUSGameFirst was activated. Now it seems stable. Your 3D scores look accurate, but in PUBG your GPU performance is usually at half capacity. If anyone can help, please let me know. Thanks!
I noticed your GPU usage varies a lot—90% in lobby, 50% in gameplay at 1440p, and lower at higher settings. PUBG seems to be problematic for you. I’m hoping you can find a fix. On YouTube, you can see consistent performance at 200 or 250fps with 5800x/RTX at low settings, dropping to around 150 at ultra.
they mentioned a single year in their statement about issues with certain hardware, specifically related to Battle Eye and security for hacking and cheating. They also referenced conflicts, possibly hinting at upcoming changes.
You mentioned the same motherboard, ASUS B550-Plus TUF. Did you see this issue reported anywhere? There don’t appear to be any links provided. It seems like the problem might be linked to a conflict involving PUGB and may need troubleshooting. I’ll keep checking for updates.
I saw that on PubG support, but it's been a while. Perhaps it's not the issue. I removed all Asus programs yet and still face the same problem. I plan to test other BIOS options today. I found a forum discussion but haven't tried sending it yet. Maybe checking if we share the same motherboard would help... I'm considering that.
What brand do you use for your graphics cards? I ran a user benchmark and everything looks fine...
