Curiously, I'm exploring how players handle game controls. Do people tailor their setup or stick with default options? What benefits and drawbacks do they notice with your choices? Since I haven't played PC much, I mostly use R6S and adjusted the controls for easier access—like putting crouch on space and leaning left/right with mouse thumb buttons. What do others like?
It varies. If the controls resemble those in familiar games, I'll leave them as is. Otherwise, I'll adjust them to fit my natural movement patterns.
Usually I stick to standard controls unless it's a very old game where keys are fixed. Modern game design is advanced enough so most developers handle control choices well, letting you adjust only what needs fixing.
I generally spend around an hour on the game and then tweak what requires it, but I'm more of a hands-on person, so I often make changes myself.
I misuse the mouse controls in the opposite direction. For instance, in CS:GO the left click zooms and the right click fires. This habit likely began when I played Minecraft on a console where triggers differ from PC, so I adapted by using the wrong buttons from the start.
