I'm experiencing frequent resets on my 3090 over the last couple of months. Whenever I let it sit in low power for extended periods or used it randomly, it would completely freeze, sometimes triggering a BSOD with WATCHDOG_ERROR. Recently, the issue has worsened to the point where using the computer is nearly impossible. Initially, I thought it was a typical driver problem that could be fixed with an update, but it didn't resolve. After that, I tried uninstalling Windows just in case, but noticed it was also crashing during a backup from a Linux USB drive. My belief that Windows might be the issue isn't confirmed yet. I don't think the power supply is the problem—my 80+ gold Seasonic has never failed under load, and I can still handle heavy tasks without issues now. It only crashes eventually. My computer performs well in safe mode and passed multiple memtest86 runs, so it's unlikely a hardware fault is the main cause. Considering my warranty expired three weeks ago, it might be time to replace the graphics card.
It turns out the rabbit hole gets more complicated. Using a second GPU didn’t help, so they thought it was about the motherboard. They swapped in a different motherboard, but that also failed. This situation is really confusing.
I think the issue might be with the CPU, so I’ll repackage the motherboard I received for return and purchase a replacement one.
