Manjaro Mate, the display method that would turn black until you pressed a button felt like a screen saver or it shut down. I looked into the Manjaro forums, thought it might be an extension, but none were active, leaving me puzzled. I wasn't sure if it was X11, and since KDE on X11 worked, I didn’t think much more about it.
This idea is already available. You're welcome to fully participate in the X11Libre initiative, led by someone with strong anti-science views who has disrupted the original X11 source code and now is building a new version to preserve what remains of it.
