Wattman OC not working in game
Wattman OC not working in game
I used wattman to set my Radeon Rx 480 gaming X to 1390mhz in its highest mode. I applied superposition for benchmarking on 4K optimized, and it appears stable, maintaining 1390mhz consistently across several tests (with a max temperature of 65°C). The only issue arises when running the game, especially with Ghost Recon Wildlands, where it fails to reach its maximum state and never exceeds 1316mhz or 73°C (the max temp is capped at 85°C in wattman). I’m curious why it doesn’t hit 1390 during play, only in benchmarks. On full graphics settings, I’m averaging around 25fps with occasional drops to 18, which is why I’m considering an overclock.

I figured it out. The issue was opening the MSI Gaming App afterward to check temperatures and FPS after the overclock, since the game's own OC settings were applied instead of the ones I set via Wattman.
I adjusted the settings using wattman to 1390mhz for the Radeon Rx 480 in its highest mode. I benchmarked it with superposition on 4K optimized, and it remained stable at 1390mhz during testing (several trials) while keeping a max temperature of 65°C. The only issue arose when running the game, especially for "Ghost recon wildlands," where it didn’t reach its full state and stayed below 1316mhz with a max temp of 73°C (set to 85°C in wattman). I’m curious why it doesn’t hit 1390mhz during play but does so in the benchmark. On maximum graphics settings, I’m averaging around 25fps with occasional drops to 18, which is why I’m considering an overclock.
