Does watercooling increase the likelihood of higher overclocking compared to air cooling? Or are the results similar? Pascal GPU

not confident it would give a better overclock, but it could work if you're pushing the card to its limits.
my goal was 1500mhz and it reached 1550mhz on both air and water, though water was significantly cooler. I didn’t aim for the absolute maximum, so I didn’t see much benefit from an additional 50–100mhz.
also, there was no fan noise from the graphics card.

Cooling the GPU with water enables greater overclocking since temperatures stay significantly lower. With dual 980TIS units in SLI both set to 1550MHz, my temperatures after ten hours playing GTA V remain just 55°C.

pascal cards should perform consistently or even improve slightly
basic setup
my gtx970 heavy overclock
on air max 72c
on water max 50c
i also have a new gtx1070 heavy overclock
on air max 60c
still waiting to install it in my loop, so no water temperatures recorded
though on air it stays around 10–12°C, which is better than the gtx970. it’s tough to compare since the air coolers differ between brands, but the gtx1070 isn’t outperforming the gtx970 because the 970 struggles with cooling or is just mediocre

pascal cards should remain consistent or slightly improved
general setup
my gtx970 heavily overclocked
on air max 72c
on water max 50c
also my new gtx1070 heavily overclocked
on air max 60c
still waiting to install it in the loop so no water temperatures recorded
but since the air is already around 10–12°C cooler than the gtx970, it’s unlikely to overheat more on water
difficult to compare because the air coolers differ in design and both offer strong cooling, though the gtx1070 isn’t surpassing the gtx970
does water cooling improve my overclock stability without causing frequency swings?
