Hello, I have a Ryzen build with a G1 gaming 1080. I'm wondering if it's better to spend that money on a custom water loop or buy a TI card?

I can address your query based on my own experience. I had a 1080 and later upgraded to 1080Ti. Both my current 1080 Ti and the previous 1080 were fully watercooled in my custom loop. The 1080Ti, even without overclocking, remains significantly faster than both the stock and overclocked 1080 models.

I've been trying to go overclock and keep gaming without buying cooling parts, but it costs the same as getting a TI card.

I recommend choosing 1080Ti since although water cooling is appealing, it won't be as effective as an air cooler unless you're engaging in heavy overclocking.

I own an antec 1200 now upgraded to 1600x with g1 gaming and 2666mhz 16 ram, yet when playing kcd it drops below 60 fps.

1080 Ti is straightforward. You can find a 1070 Ti for a price close to what a 1080 offers while still delivering 95% of its performance, yet the total cost difference between these two options remains minimal—just around $40.
