It's certainly worth exploring, particularly because it's free. However, be cautious—non-Prime matchmaking has many cheaters and scammers, especially at lower ranks (sub-Gold Nova), as they can create new accounts after being banned. In Prime MM (rank 21 or higher, either purchased or awarded), cheating is significantly reduced, with at most one per 10 to 20 games. If you're aiming for a positive experience, consider investing in Prime and joining groups or other players to queue with. While solo-queuing might pair you with less skilled teammates, it can still be enjoyable.
To showcase your Twitch or reaction abilities, it's a timeless approach.
I never enjoyed how the game was played. I have a friend who was really skilled at it and (by all accounts) was essentially the top player for as long as he played it (it's basically his whole life span, by the way). Recently he messaged me saying it's terrible and no longer worth playing.
I mean, it's free. Might as well give it a try if you haven't already.
CSGO is an excellent game with a large player base (866k currently playing). The main challenge is its difficulty for newcomers because of the many smurfs and cheaters. But you can bypass most of those issues by obtaining a prime status update, which you can get for free, or simply playing with friends.
Valorant is similar to CSGO but features cartoony visuals, easier system requirements, and updated design elements, making it a good alternative as well since it's free-to-play.
If you're thinking about something similar to CS:GO, it's okay to try it, though the game hasn't been well maintained lately. I've enjoyed playing Valorant more than I ever did with CS:GO.
