Warranty details for MSI motherboards
Hi everyone, do you know anything about MSI warranty for motherboards? My nephew has a new MSI B460 B560 only seven months old. After testing, it seems the board isn’t working properly. From what I read on MSI’s site, power failures aren’t covered, but I’m not sure if that fits my situation. I tried a jump start and it still won’t turn on. The PSU is working but the system doesn’t boot at all. I don’t have the original packaging, can I still send it in?
Sure, I’ll give it a shot. If they don’t approve it, what brand of motherboard would you suggest for an Intel i3? I’m not keen on MSI again—I worry it might happen again, and since there’s no GPU now, I still plan to get one later.
I’m not familiar with the details. I can only share basic information: a high cost usually comes from strong VRM, which isn’t necessary for an i3. There’s likely a memory speed cap for your CPU, making it unwise to expect a board that handles faster RAM. Since you’ve probably already purchased memory, you’ll need to ensure the board fits that capacity. Overall, it’s about balancing features with budget.
As long as you have an invoice from the time you purchased the motherboard, they will replace, repair, or inspect it. If you don’t have an invoice, don’t bother with an RMA—it may be rejected outright at their repair center. For budget CPUs, you don’t need a high-end board; any will work fine. What people usually focus on is the appearance and the connections.
