I received an unusual message on my computer with poor English (no typos). It appeared as a window in the top right corner. I read a few lines and thought it was an internet pop-up spam. However, it wasn't in a regular window. After closing it, I realized I should have taken a screenshot. Do you remember that "want to cry" doesn't work on Windows 7?

It should function properly with our backups in place, shouldn't it?

Cloud storage ensures automatic backups whenever modifications occur in files on your desktop. It scans for changes overnight and transfers them to the cloud.

WannaCry affects all versions from XP through Win10 unless updated. Microsoft issued a patch several months ago for Windows 10 and recently provided updates for OSes starting from XP and Server 2003. The malware can no longer propagate across networks due to a discovery by a researcher who identified a "kill switch" in the code—specifically, it verifies the presence of a DNS and fails if absent. Once the DNS is registered, spreading stops. For more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WannaCry

The Windows 7 system with mid-March security updates or newer is safe. Without that update, your machine remains at risk. This applies to version 2 of the worm, but v3 came out soon after with the kill code removed. v3 continues to spread, though heavy media attention has slowed its progress as users patch their systems.

Yeah, I only have version 2 on a laptop that was using a pirated copy of Windows 7 (with updates disabled). It's isolated, and I'm considering making an image of the drive for cold storage. First I secured more urgent tasks, so this could be resolved before I get there.
