W3540 at 4GHz delivers higher FPS compared to X5650 at 4.2GHz
I recently acquired a motherboard that supports my Xeon X5650, achieving a speed of 4.2ghz and earning a Cinebench score of 906. It's interesting to note that my W3540, when overclocked to 4GHz, performs better in games like BeamNG DQ and utilizes the CPU more intensely. Why is this happening? Am I making mistakes during the overclocking process for my X5650? I typically see around 80 to 30 to 40 FPS in BeamNG when using the W3540 at 4GHz, but with the X5650 at 4.2GHz, it drops to about 30 to 40 FPS. Even with graphical settings adjusted, the W3540 still scores around five hundred something on Cinebench.

I recently acquired a motherboard that supports my Xeon X5650, achieving a speed of 4.2ghz. I achieved a Cinebench score of 906. It’s interesting to note that my W3540, when overclocked to 4ghz, performs better in games like BeamNG DICE and uses the CPU more intensely. Why is this happening? Am I making mistakes during the overclocking process for my X5650? I typically get around 80 FPS in BeamNG with the W3540 at 4ghz, but when switching to my X5650 at 4.2ghz, it drops to about 30 to 40 FPS. Even with graphical settings adjusted, the W3540 still scores around 500+ on Cinebench. This was similar to what I experienced with an X58 that couldn’t support the X5650. My X5650 runs at 4.2ghz while the W3540 is at 4ghz.
