You're questioning whether your current setup can support the VR headset you're considering. Your PC, built in 2019 with a Ryzen 7 3800X, RTX 2070 SUPER, and 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM (upgraded from 16GB), should handle most modern games like Beatsaber, Subnautica, No Man's Sky, and Elite Dangerous. With a budget of around 400€, it looks like you have a solid foundation. Just make sure the headset is compatible with your system specs and consider testing it before purchasing.

I considered it, but is it possible without a USB Type-C port?

The top feature of the Quest is its wireless capability (my setup functions perfectly), though a USB A to C cable ensures reliable performance when needed. Edit: Note, on my machine the battery usage increases slightly when connected via USB A to the headset, which might affect your experience. However, I prioritize wireless play whenever possible. If wired connection is necessary, I connect my phone’s fast charger to the headset while linking to my PC over Wi-Fi. This configuration works well for seated gameplay, such as in Elite Dangerous. For standing sessions, I switch entirely to wireless mode.

I think type A USB-C cables are fine if they support enough bandwidth. PCIe to USB add-in cards might also function.

It should work fine with a USB-C to A cable for your quest. Just keep in mind that wireless isn’t available since you haven’t purchased a Wi-Fi card for your PC. You’ll stay connected through a wired LAN connection.

Is there reliable Wi-Fi available inside the house? It only needs to connect to the same network, but it must support 5G connectivity.

I have a solid 5G connection at home. The router is located in the same area as the computer and uses a 1GBit cable for the link.

Everything looks set now. My PC is wired too, and while my battery drains slowly through this specific USB port (I haven’t tested all ports), I can still get about three hours running time—likely longer. The phone charger keeps everything powered via the wall adapter.

What kind of phone charger do you have? Your charging cable seems too short for proper use.
