At the moment, having 8GB of VRAM becomes a limiting factor when using 1440p resolution; it would be unnecessary to think about upgrading to an 8GB card right now.

I would choose either the 4070 Ti Super or the 5070 Ti. If you truly need your system to remain functional for a long time, particularly with the graphics card, opting for a model with 16GB of VRAM would be wise. When I purchased and assembled a brand new PC a few years back, knowing the 4070 Ti Super would be released would have been the best decision instead of the 4070 Ti with only 12GB. One of the most frustrating challenges I face is running out of VRAM too quickly.

The current games available present a variety of ways to consume VRAM, and sometimes reducing resolution barely makes a difference. For instance, take the game Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart.

At 1080p with full graphical settings, it already exceeds 10 gigabytes of VRAM usage. The gap between 1080p and 1440p is roughly 400 megabytes, and the jump from 1440p to 4K is about 1 gigabyte.

If you want to benefit from frame generation, it actually raises VRAM consumption as well. For me, this problem is quite bothersome—if it weren’t so troublesome to sell my 4070 Ti just to acquire a 4070 Ti Super, I would have done so. In fact, if I sold my 4070 Ti at a fair price, I would simply look for the most affordable 5080.

There’s nothing more irritating than experiencing frequent stutters because of VRAM shortages.
