I really wish I could play Ark at higher settings. ;n; Try to make your game smoother, folks. Building cars sounds great in VR, though. I’m aware there are many small VR demos and Elite Dangerous supports VR well, which would be perfect. I’ll research which games work with VR and see if the investment makes sense.
When is the last time you tried ark? Because the optimization has greatly improved, I can run ARK on reasonable setting and get pretty good performance and i'm using an FX-6300 (not overclocked) and a EVGA 960 4GB SSC. And yeah I bought project cars for the PS4 (before I built my PC) and I really loved it, It would be amazing to play it in VR. Edited February 18, 2016 by penguin2424
I understand many people believe VR will become the next big 3D TV, but I’m telling them they’re mistaken. Sure, everyone made a 3D TV, yet it didn’t gain much attention like VR does. Companies like HTC and Playstation are entering this space, which is still new for them, making it more promising in my opinion.
I get what you're pointing out, but there are big players in 3D TV production, including companies like Playstation. Take a look at how the Sony PlayStation 3D Display came out. Still, I don't think VR will follow the same trend as the 3D fad. I really like the concept and it seems likely to last longer. If I could afford it and had the right gear, I'd definitely consider getting a VR headset.
Absolutely, I really want one, but the broken parts give me pause. I’d prefer a traditional setup like Vive, though I think Oculus and PSVR will become the norm.
About a month back it was really bad—low resolution, 1080p, still choppy at around 50fps, and the textures looked terrible. I’m okay with that kind of graphics quality and 30fps, but not this performance. I’ll try again when I get home from work, probably. I’ve seen a few updates on Steam, and I was thinking about pre-ordering a Vive. It seemed like the top choice among VR options. VR actually has solid backing and a real purpose, unlike 3D TV which feels like a cheap scheme.
It seems you're suggesting the ideal choice is one that works well with oculus games.
I don't think it has quite the hype that the oculous does, but it is certainly a superior platform. Hopefully it will be as simple as cross-compatability, and at worst, the Vive just becomes the more popular option. Yeah, but why hold off? I'm American. It's basically my job to do things with no forethought or consideration of the consequences.
