Are you looking for a full setup with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, or are you satisfied with just the PC itself?

Choosing something that satisfies the basic requirements for the Rift is definitely possible—though it means relying on a Rift setup right now. I’m cautiously optimistic that Valve will eventually release their own ASW version for the Vive.

Oculus Rift needs less powerful hardware because of ASW. This allows you to play on a $500 machine, even though a Vive would need about $750 to $800.

These are not the basic specs needed for the Oculus Rift. The list includes: a video card from NVIDIA GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 470 or higher, an Intel i3-6100 or AMD FX4350 or higher CPU, at least 8GB RAM with HDMI 1.3 output, USB ports (including one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0), and Windows 8 or later OS.
