You're asking if you should use the VPN app on your phone or PC for online security. It's best to run the VPN program on your phone since that's how you currently connect to the internet. This way, your data stays protected while you're using the 4G connection. Simple, right?

You can direct VPN connections from your mobile device, though results are inconsistent across many phones. You can share your internet access from your phone and apply a VPN on your computer.

From a security perspective, it doesn't matter; your phone's connection will always go through the VPN. Regarding reliability, based on my experience, VPN clients often perform poorly on mobile devices, so I recommend using them on your desktop instead.
