I tried my Blue Yeti for the first time recently and struggled to get a comfortable volume level. I pushed the volume as high as Windows allowed and turned the gain knob all the way up. At those levels, it was barely loud enough for a conversation on Discord from just one foot away. When I linked it to two other computers, the issue persisted. It’s possible I slightly reduced its gain without realizing it, but I haven’t dropped or damaged it. Anyone have suggestions?

They suggested turning off automatic gain control and other settings, but that didn’t resolve the issue. I reached out to their customer service, which was quite helpful, and I plan to send them an email about audio recoding. It seems there’s a problem with the microphone itself.

Check the Windows sound options first, then adjust Discord settings. Observe the changes directly.

Speaking very loudly just a couple of inches away results in the activity indicator appearing in the sound settings only 25%. At full volume, it works differently.
