Hey THW!
I’m facing another issue with my build/configuration. After it worked fine for a while, it’s suddenly behaving erratically again. I’ve seen my system automatically revert my overclock back to the standard 3.3GHz from 4-4.2GHz. I’m confused about what might be causing this, since I had it running smoothly without any issues before. Could anyone explain possible reasons? Maybe an outdated BIOS or voltage problems? Didn’t notice this during stress testing either. It’s really stopping me from enjoying GTA to its fullest. 3.3GHz vs 4.2GHz really makes a difference :/
Any advice, tips, or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hey there, sorry for the delayed response. But it seems like something unexpected stopped everything. Last night I was playing GTA, I clicked on some music and suddenly the whole system froze. The TV and speakers also made this strange noise. I’ve been running a lot of Prime95 on a 4,2ghz OC for hours, so I’m still puzzled. It’s getting worse too. It definitely looks like an unstable OC. Stress testing, like P95, isn’t always the best way to spot one. The real test is how it performs in normal use, especially when gaming. Have you adjusted the Vcore yet? Even a small increase of 0.100 can sometimes help. Just don’t push it above 1.500 v. Check out this detailed guide for OC'ing Sandy Bridge—it has a lot to offer.

Does the clock reset occur during an unexpected shutdown or system restart? If yes, your OC might be unstable.

My 3570k remained stable at 4.3GHz under stress testing, but it would crash unexpectedly during regular use, even while browsing the web. I lowered the speed to 4.2Ghz, then 4.1GHz, and it has worked well for months now.

I’m not sure why this happened. I’ve run a lot of Prime95 on a 4,2ghz OC, so I’m puzzled. It’s getting worse too.

It definitely looks like an unstable OC. Stress testing, like P95, isn’t always reliable for catching instability. The real test is everyday use, especially when gaming. Have you adjusted the Vcore yet? Even a small increase of 0.100 can sometimes help. Just don’t push it beyond 1.500 v.

Let me know how it goes.

Well, sorry for the delayed reply. I'm really struggling with my setup now. It won't even run GTA 5 smoothly on normal settings without noticeable lag spikes :/ It's super frustrating. I've already adjusted the voltage and GHz settings—started at 4.2 when it first stopped working. I set it to around 3.9, but it still happens. I've also tried changing the Vcore to +0050, but that doesn't help much. What should I do to figure out the issue better? Are there any other stress tests you recommend that could check another part of the CPU besides P95? I'll keep trying with the voltage and see what happens! Thanks for the link, Yogi!
