I upgraded my VM to version 1903 and everything worked yesterday. I began it recently since I needed to edit Word, but it kept freezing. The start button would freeze and stay blue when hovered over, yet clicking didn’t do anything. I can restore it to version 1809 using a snapshot, but I’m not doing that because the update is taking too long on my slow laptop—another two hours would be wasted.

VMware problems are common: https://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2019/05...-19h1.html Windows 10 VM issues on ESXI are also reported. Lol

Hope you get a solution. Your VM boots fine—just the Windows logo appears at the start. Microsoft handled it well with this patch.

I’ll go back to before the update, that’s clear. Just so you know, I run it in a VM—snapshots are handy.

It seems like you're describing common issues with Explorer freezing. If you press Ctrl+Alt+Esc, the Task Manager will appear, allowing you to restart explorer.exe. If that doesn't resolve the problem, consider terminating sihost.exe. These problems often stem from various factors, depending on your actions. A simple right-click might load a problematic DLL causing a bug in the latest Windows version, leading to a system-wide freeze.

I'm unable to run the test; I've already gone back to the previous snapshot.
