Video Streams from CCTV Cameras
I've included the attached photo and video of the problem I'm dealing with. In another setting, I installed CCTV on my own. Each unit was 2MP. Initially, I used a single centralized power supply of 12V 15A for four cameras. Both the cameras and the power unit were from a low-cost Chinese manufacturer, which faced similar problems. I resolved it by removing the central supply and connecting each camera to its own dedicated CCTV power unit (12V 2A). The four power supply racks were placed near the DVR. The cables ran 12V, with lengths of 15-25 meters each time, and everything functioned properly. The current problem now: Despite fixing the first setup, I enlisted professionals this time. This installation used cameras from a reputable Chinese brand, "Hik Vision" (at least locally). The wiring was installed securely inside the walls without needing to break them. For the cables, we selected top-rated Hik Vision products available at the time. Two cameras are within 10-15 meters of the DVR, while the other two are 20-25 meters away. All cables carried both power and data in a single strand, wrapped in rubber for protection—essentially a 2-in-1 cable. This configuration had a very thin gauge compared to our own coax and separate power cables. After the new wiring was completed by a different team, I contacted the CCTV support. When I shared my past experience with a centralized power supply, they ignored it and installed one of those. (The same Chinese brand they mentioned has no online presence.) Now, the current setup is experiencing the same issue. They attributed it to the poor wiring done by the previous team. One camera works fine (the second closest to the DVR), but the other three show damage. Even the recorded footage displays those lines. I checked both playback and web UI. Should I recreate my earlier fix? Additional Pricing Info: In Sri Lanka, central power supplies are hard to source—prices are around 4000 LKR for a 12V 15A unit (~12 USD). A standard 12 2A supply costs about 2500 LKR (~8 USD). The budget isn’t a barrier. What should I try next? WhatsApp Video 2024-01-15 at 10:20.mp4
It seems like a ground loop issue is the concern. In a prior situation I faced, I implemented ground loop isolators to resolve it. See one example here: https://www.amazon.com/Lukovee-Female-Co...398&sr=8-6
