Video Review of Monster Energy Supercross 4 at Realistic (450)
Sorry for the further delay, as it's been two weeks instead of one since posting the last two rounds. This time it was Far Cry 6, and I got sidetracked by something unexpected. This is the final round now, so only one round this time.
Salt Lake Round 17
I used to refer to this one as the Geritol Track because the layout made it seem like progress was slow. My previous best in the 450 class on this track was about a three-second lead, but that was with a slower start and Medium AI. I was concerned I wouldn't be able to reach the podium on Realistic with a ten-second AI head start.
After several tries, I realized I had to tweak things to boost speed and consistency. The first change involved the long rhythm section with two tabletops. I started using a long bounce jump after the two tabletops instead of going all the way through. This felt quicker, and it also helped me exit the section more effectively, allowing me to land the big air triple faster and more reliably after the 90 right.
Maintaining consistency in the big air triple also assisted in clearing the big 180 right berm once it was cleared quickly enough. I also paid attention to landing the double jump after the 90 left into the whoop section well, which gave me strong speed through the whoops.
The third adjustment was moving the 180 left into the finish line jump after the whoops at its peak. Although the speed here is modest, it offers a slight edge since most AI go deep into the 180 left berm after the whoops. It’s one of the best spots to overtake them.
I’m currently having trouble with Supercross 5 on Realistic. It appears to be one of the least well-designed ME Supercross games yet, especially regarding AI performance. They’re often 10 seconds or more slower on some tracks, making it extremely difficult to even reach the podium on others.
Additionally, this is from the 2020 season, which was during the peak of COVID. There are fewer venues compared to Supercross 4, so if I can even surpass it in the 450 class, I might skip the 250 class on Realistic and head straight for Supercross 6.
