I built a new setup with the funds I had this summer. I aimed for smooth recording at 60 FPS but haven’t used OBS before and don’t know the right settings. For instance, I’m playing Rainbow Six: Siege at Medium with High quality, but I can’t get 60 FPS during gameplay. Could you assist? My specs are: CPU Ryzen 3 2200G, GPU 1050Ti, 1x8 Gb DDR4 at 3000MHz, Corsair Vengeance LPX, Asus Prime B350M-A, 128GB SSD plus 1TB Seagate Baracuda.

You won't be able to apply software encoding on a Ryzen 3 because it lacks sufficient power. In OBS settings, change the encoder to NVENC H.264, which utilizes a dedicated video encoder integrated into your GPU.

I have my preferences, but I’m still confused about these topics.

It seems the video is adjusted in different resolutions depending on the section it's used in, which might be confusing. The scaling changes could be intentional for compatibility or performance reasons.

As I mentioned, I’m not sure what I’m doing.

What video quality do you use? Do you play at 1080p? If yes, adjust the setting in the Video section from 720p to 1080p. Also, you want recordings saved as local video files instead of streaming. If that’s the case, increase the bitrate in the Output section significantly—such as 20000—and choose a low-latency, high-quality preset with high profile settings. This should help you get started.
