I recently purchased a capable computer that performs well with all applications and games, and it operated smoothly until recently. Now, when I use desktop applications such as Spotify or NordVPN, my frame rates drop noticeably – typically between 10 and 30 fps – but only when the application is active.
Typically, I achieve over 100fps at 1440p resolution. Games run flawlessly with excellent frame rates. I experience high performance on a blank desktop or within a web browser. However, if the corresponding tab is visible in the background or minimized, there are no problems; it’s only when that window is selected that I encounter lag. What might be responsible for this behavior?
I observe this issue when using a Virtual Private Network due to its inherent latency. However, does this problem exclusively occur with Spotify?
Could you verify your network’s connection speeds? What rate of data transmission are you receiving and what is the cost of your service plan?
Are you connected via Ethernet or wireless technology?
The network connection isn't the issue; I’m utilizing a standard Australian NBN service.
This problem previously occurred with Spotify, though it resolved itself quite some time ago – the cause is unknown.
However, it’s now happening with Nord Music and significantly limits my mouse movement when using the application.
I've encountered other users experiencing similar difficulties while seeking assistance online, but without success.
Perhaps there’s interference from another application or program that’s running concurrently?
Thank you.
