Hi there, I've been having some serious stuttering issues with my PC for a while now, but after upgrading to Windows 10 2H22 The problems have gotten notably worse. I've attached a screenie of my sysinfo specs. Here also is a rather hastily made video of the issue. Video https://drive.google.com/file/d/1luc4KO4...sp=sharing sysinfo And here's a more detailed list of my PC components: Tower shell https://www.newegg.com/black-white-phant...6811854070 Motherboard https://www.newegg.com/msi-mpg-x570-gami...6813144262 CPU https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-9-3950x...6819113616 SSD https://www.newegg.com/samsung-970-evo-p...on=SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB&cm_re=SAMSUNG_970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB-_-20-147-744-_-Product&quicklink=true RAM https://www.newegg.com/corsair-32gb-288-...6820236454 Two of these sets for a total of 64GB Power supply https://www.newegg.com/evga-supernova-85...A658TV5521 Happy to provide any other details as necessary. Historically, Antimalware Service Executable has given me a lot of issues, but I'm not really able to turn it off as I have been in the past: nothing I've tried allows me to edit its registry or foil it in general. Maybe it's because I'm running on a Windows 10 demo. But if it's not ASE that's the issue, I'm wondering if it could be the power supply, or some power-related issue? Any advice and debugging tool recommendations are appreciated, I'm excited to learn more about PC care / debugging tools. I apologize in advance if I don't respond promptly: work has kinda sucked me dry this last month, but hopefully next week I'll have more time. Thank you so much! Jon
You might use DDU for graphics. Does this occur in other titles as well? Overclocking could lead to instability. Your CPU has sufficient cores to manage background work, unless you record the session—then you may need to adjust settings. You can turn off system sounds, as they often trigger spikes in games like Battlefield 4 and newer.
Thank you for your feedback. It seems I need more information before responding. My apologies for missing details earlier. I usually don’t record screens, which might explain this. You’re correct—I wouldn’t attribute the problem to background processes, especially with my processor. I tried turning off Windows sounds without success, but I’m willing to try again. I haven’t overclocked before, so it doesn’t seem necessary for me. Generally, the stuttering appears randomly and seems to impact both graphics and audio. For example, running FL Studio doesn’t change how often it stutters, though it’s been more consistent lately. When using FL Studio, the issue is less affected by project size, but games still get affected. Increasing the buffer size in my audio settings helped reduce the stutter a bit, though I don’t remember doing that before. The 2H22 Windows update seems to have made things worse. Since I can’t go back to the previous update, I’m focusing on resolving it with the new version.
