Hello, I've checked around for any information about the 2.5 update in Star Citizen. I'm sure some people are using PTU invites to try things out and fix issues, but I'm curious about the release timeline. A friend of mine mentioned that updates happen roughly once a month. It's been over a month now, and I'm getting frustrated because I keep losing to stronger ships like Vanguards and others with better Hornets. I know Hornets are powerful, but it feels like I'm constantly being targeted more than others.

It should be just around the corner; they appear to have canceled the monthly updates at the moment since they’re working on many new features for each release. I’m part of the PTU Testing and it looks stable enough, though I think they might add one more update on Monday or Tuesday before it launches (in my view).

It was planned for a Friday launch, aligning with the major Gamescom demo session. However, Chris mentioned a frame rate issue that will be resolved prior to release. If you haven’t seen the full talk yet, it’s highly recommended you watch it; just as CR emphasized.

It really sent shivers down my spine a couple of times. How much progress they've made is astonishing. Eager to see Star Marine, though I think Squadron 42 will have a tough time keeping people's minds intact.

Based on my personal experience with 2.5 ptu, it feels like we're not quite finished. There are ongoing desync problems, some texture and lighting issues at longer distances, and the frustrating infinite loading screen is back. I think a new patch will be released on Monday, a release candidate on Tuesday night/Wednesday, and hopefully a full release by Thursday or Friday.

The desync process will persist until the netcode update is applied.

In my view, this worked much better compared to the PTP setup. It handled the load significantly more efficiently.

They offer temporary fixes to keep things running until the new netcode version 3.0 arrives. The issue appears to be linked to client framerates, which can cause instability. In previous updates (2.4.x), they managed to maintain around 30 FPS with good synchronization. However, in the latest 2.5 PTU release, performance dropped significantly, leading to dips below 10 DPS and making gameplay difficult. They are working on a solution, and the next PTU update is expected soon—likely launching next week.
