Hi All, I'm looking for advice on whether or not I should upgrade my bios version from what came installed on the pre-built I ordered. Specs : CPU : Ryzen 7 7800X3D Mobo : ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO BIOS ( current bios version - 1101 ) Memory : 2x GSkill 16GB DDR5-6000MHz Trident Z5 RGB Memory (AMD EXPO Support CL30 Black) GPU : AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX PSU : Seasonic 1000W Vertex GX-1000 ATX 3.0 80+ Gold Cooling : Corsair ICUE H100I Elite LCD XT Liquid CPU Cooler 240MM Radiator AIO + 5x Corsair QX ICUE Link QX120 RGB 120MM fans OS : Windows 11 Pro So I'm not looking to actively try to overclock this system, I haven't the slightest idea of how to do it and I'd worry about messing it up. But I had an issue with the fans all blinking red after awhile of just being turned on. Searched for answers, tried pushing connector wires back into the control module which seems to keep the lights from blinking again for awhile, but then after about a solid few hours of playing Black Desert Online at max settings, the fans start to blink again but still all seem to operate with the coolant temp reading 43C. CPU temps have spiked a tad over 80C for the pkg reading, but hover anywhere from mid 60's to 70's on average. GPU hot spot spiked at 90C but otherwise were in/around 70's - 80's. I have updated all ICUE Software + Firmware for the commander core controller and I've also updated the GPU Drivers to the latest update, but that left the bios. I've never messed with a bios before, so it's kinda nerve-wracking for me however I have seen some videos mentioning that there were major issues with my combination I picked for the Mobo + CPU (I wish I'd have done more research before i chose this set-up thru a build-your-own pre-built set-up if that's even a thing heh). I did notice via the 'Q-code(s) or Micro-code' at one point there was a # that the appendix said was CPU Mismatch but I haven't seen that code pop up again lately. So yeah, all this makes me think I should update the bios version. (Which also might help clean up the ICUE fans all blinking red on me randomly?) That being said, with all the hoopla surrounding ASUS and the debacle of bios versions and threats of if I update then I somehow void the warranty, but if I don't update, then I'm screwed anyway? So which bios version should I look to update to if I'm just looking at keeping everything stock without trying to tweak any settings the latest 1516 which seems to be a beta version or 1415? I will say, I've only really had this computer up and running for about 3 days out of the box and I haven't had any BSoD's or any crazy stuff that would have me believe it's faulty other than the lighting issue and that the latest version of ICUE likes to keep randomly crashing on me. Thanks for any help you all can provide (and sorry if this is such a trivial question in advance).

They withdrew their previous stance, clarifying that updating your BIOS won’t cancel your warranty. I’d recommend version 1415 over 1516 since the latter is still a beta release and hasn’t been fully verified. 1415 should suffice. It’s best to upgrade the BIOS when using the 7800X3D, particularly with an ASUS board, as your current 1101 is essentially the official launch BIOS for that platform. If you need assistance with the process, feel free to ask and I’ll walk you through it. I personally use an ASUS AM5 motherboard.

Thanks to both of you for your help! It means a lot. I wasn’t really planning to overclock, and I’d even heard that AMD chips tend to struggle in that area, so it wasn’t a big concern. While looking for solutions, I came across many discussions about memory overclocking, which made it hard to focus. I didn’t find a clear choice between the BIOS versions until now, so again, thank you both for your insights!
