I’m looking for a reliable way to obtain a safe download of the 1.3 update for Need for Speed most wanted from 2005. I’m experiencing random crashes and hope a newer version might resolve the issue. I currently have version 1.0, and I own the disks for NFS:MW Black edition.

-non-working links removed.- Use instead: Need for Speed Most Wanted Patch - Official patches - PCGamingWiki PCGW Community Internet Archive is always a great place to start when it comes to old software. Now, I can't share the link, but also on archive.org there is a repack of the game which includes several patches/fixes, including the 1.3 patch. Edited July 25, 2024 by da na

Thanks a lot! I enjoy playing games often, but I'm not usually online, so this really helps me a lot.

Sorry to repeat, but could you confirm if you simply moved the files into the game? It’s been tricky figuring out what to do next.

To update the software, you’d need to swap the existing files in the installation folder. Alternatively, if the update is an executable that unpacks into those directories, it would work that way.

It doesn’t appear to be an EXE file and it won’t replace any current files. That means you can simply drag and drop the two files into the main folder. I’m sorry if my explanation came across as unclear. Since I don’t modify much beyond games, my understanding here is quite limited.

Sorry about that. Ignore the links. The official patch for Need for Speed Most Wanted is available on PCGamingWiki. It should be the correct version.

Sorry for the delay in replying. That was the one! It had the .EXE and it functioned. Just need to reinstall MW:2005 since I have the REDUX 3.0 update. Thanks a million again. Also appreciate you understanding my tech stuff. I'm good at assembling things but that's about all. A straightforward mind and no space for anything elseXD
