Verify the fan header condition
Verify the fan header condition
Hello everyone, I’ve learned that it’s possible to link several fans to one fan header on your motherboard. The rule is that the total current shouldn’t surpass 1 Amp. I realized my mistake might have been connecting a cable from four 140mm case fans—each drawing 0.18 Amps, so 4 times 0.18 equals 0.72, which is under the limit. I’m confident now but wanted to verify the header’s performance and ensure nothing was damaged during the setup. Thanks!
There’s no accurate method to verify this. It either functions or fails. Probably won’t harm a connected fan. Still, 0.72A seems acceptable. Did you actually run the fans at full speed? If not, try reducing the current below 0.78. The best way to confirm is to connect one fan and check if the control works normally, then gradually increase to two, etc. Most boards handle this easily, but if you have extra fan headers, distribute the load accordingly.
