You're thinking about upgrading your setup for better performance with your current 24GB VRAM and 3700x graphics card. It's great you're considering the balance between cost and future needs. A 5800x3D could definitely help, but it depends on how much extra power you want. If you're already running smoothly at 1440p, a 3700x at 1440p should be fine unless you plan heavy gaming or rendering. The 24GB VRAM is solid for most tasks, so upgrading might not be urgent right now.
Get the 5800x3d version. The slowdown would be clear but not extreme. You'll maintain good frame rates using the 3700x option, though it's not ideal.
Depends on the game but certainly nothing to hold you back from going through with it. You'll game just fine, this issue is massively overblown and really affects people with much more severe discrepancies in CPU/GPU power. Think 10400 and a 4090 @ 1080p.
Performance differs greatly between titles. My 3900X kept up with my 3060Ti in some CPU-heavy games at 1440p, but it struggled more in GPU-heavy ones. What I meant was that I achieved roughly 60-90 FPS instead of the expected 120 FPS+.
I changed the GPU from a 5900X to a 5800X3D to resolve the CPU limitation on the 6950XT in PUBG at 1440p.
