Verify RAM compatibility thoroughly
Verify RAM compatibility thoroughly
Hello, I chose candidates for a second stick of RAM to your PC but perhaps I overlooked something. I want to verify compatibility. Current specifications: MOBO ASUS H170M-PLUS CPU, Intel Core i7-6700, RAM 1x ADATA 16GB DDR4 2666MHz CL19 (AD4U2666716G19-SGN). Second stick options: Patriot 16GB 2666MHz CL19 Signature (PSD416G26662), GOODRAM 16GB 2666MHz CL19 (GR2666D464L19/16G or GR2666D464L19S/16G - I’m not sure of the difference), Crucial 16GB 2666MHz (CT16G4DFRA266). Reminder: your current RAM isn’t on QVL and there’s no RAM with 2666MHz and CL19 available.
The motherboard will include a QVL, which is a catalog of memory that the manufacturer has verified. Both the CPU and the board may have restrictions on how fast memory can operate. It needs to meet both requirements. In cases with high-end CPUs on budget boards, the board’s constraints are probably more strict. It might be wise to check there first. Usually, the QVL isn’t a major concern for Intel systems since they are tested against Intel standards. Edited November 18, 2022 by Bombastinator
The information you provided doesn't appear to be on any QVLs listed for the specified ASUS motherboard. It seems there might be a mix-up or outdated reference. Please verify the source or clarify the details.
