Hi, I’ve been dealing with an issue on my built PC for some time now. It seems the problem might be linked to the motherboard rather than other components. Symptoms include crashes and reboots during gameplay. Current specs: Ryzen 5700X (previously 3600X), MSI B450i gaming board, 750W Evga Gold rated PSU, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, NVMe SSD, 5700X drive. The PC would crash and display WHEA errors that hinted at a faulty processor, so I replaced it, but the issue persisted—especially after upgrading to a newer chipset.
I tried several fixes: updated the motherboard BIOS, installed the latest chipset drivers, updated GPU drivers, replaced the PSU, checked temperatures, swapped RAM (still failed), moved the GPU to a different system, and tested NVMe for errors. None resolved the problem. I also looked at numerous online solutions, but nothing worked consistently.
I have a brand new processor, so I’m not sure the old one was defective. The 5700X is a solid upgrade, though. It seems the recurring crashes might point to the motherboard. I’m considering a replacement, or maybe adjusting BIOS settings could help. I don’t have much patience right now to keep troubleshooting—maybe a fresh motherboard would be simpler.
