I've noticed more inquiries about multiple CPU power connectors lately. I don't use the second one on my PC, but I have a query. My 650W PSU includes an extra CPU connector, allowing me to connect both 8-pin CPU cables to my motherboard. Since the PSU is only 650W, I don't need the extra power features of both connectors. Are there advantages like better load distribution or reduced wear/heat on the connectors?

One 8-pin unit delivers 300W of power, likely higher if you ignore overheating concerns.

They work fine when you insert them. It won’t harm anything.

Use them if you have the chance—the 8-pin EPS can deliver up to 384 watts

Load balancing isn't about putting power directly onto CPU connectors. You wouldn't connect two CPUs to a single connector, nor would you use the same power supply for both. Each load should go to its own dedicated path.

I could leave it without power and avoid having to run another cable. Regarding load balancing, I found it hard to understand why it was a poor explanation. I was interested in how it affects durability by reducing stress on connectors, but I doubt it’s a typical cause of failure. The motherboard might not be that strong if it were. Thanks for your feedback.
