I was working with a Cox modem router combo and tried my own CM1000 setup. Used Cat5e and Cat6 cables. I still managed speeds above 5-600 Mbps even without anyone using it. Yes, I tested it solo, but the speeds are what they claim. Do people really require 1G? No, that’s not necessary.
Not really. At home we have three adults who love streaming a lot—up to three HD shows from Netflix, Hulu, etc. 200 Mbps is more than sufficient and significantly cheaper than Comcast's Gigabit plan. Interestingly, Comcast could actually provide Gigabit speeds just like your local ISP.
1G is great and they’re offering it at a really good price. Cox can handle the delivery. They’ve had this in my previous home too. It’s not surprising they can manage, though. There are many factors involved and I get that. The fact that my computer isn’t working properly is confusing for me.
