The anti-cheat system in Valorant has improved significantly, but some users still report issues where it might damage their PC. Whether it's still a problem depends on the version you're playing and how updated your system is.

It operates directly within the operating system's core, offering a strong chance for exploitation. I haven't personally experienced damaging a computer with it, but the danger it poses is significant.

The anti-cheat system begins at startup and, according to what I know, continues to interfere with genuine programs even when the game isn’t active. It demands you restart your computer to play, since it didn’t set up an easy way for the game to launch automatically. They didn’t add a convenient routine, making it a hassle to manage.

They introduced a feature to disable the anti-cheat when playing Valorant, but you must turn it back on afterward. Generally, the anti-cheat remains intrusive because it operates at the kernel level. Ars Technica reviewed Valoran’s anti-cheat system and explained its functionality.

They implemented the ability to "quit" their malware application by right-clicking a system tray icon to exit it, but since it's closed source, you can't be certain the driver has actually been unloaded from the kernel, so I still wouldn't trust it.

It might be due to several reasons, such as system overload or resource conflicts.
