Utilizing RX for display rendering and GTX for video output
Utilizing RX for display rendering and GTX for video output
Hello.
I own an RX 6750 XT and recently acquired a GTX 1060 with 6GB from a friend for 40€.
My CPU is an R5800 X, I have 32GB of RAM, and use the MSI Mag B550 Tomahawk.
Initially, I intended to run lossless scaling with the GTX and the RX for rendering, but when testing without enabling lossless scaling, I chose the RX as the main rendering card—even for the game executable (the latest part 2).
The issue is that I’m consistently getting around 40 FPS (maximum settings, 1080p), whereas with the GTX I previously achieved 85–90 FPS.
It appears Windows continues to treat the GTX as the output device and renderer, even when I switched it to the RX.
For testing purposes, I swapped the DP cable back to the RX and all games still used the GTX...
Is there an option in the NVDIA panel that might help?
I’ve installed the drivers on both cards.
What am I doing incorrectly?
Begin by confirming the complete hardware specifications needed for the applications and games. Make sure your system's components meet or surpass those requirements.
Next, ensure the appropriate drivers are present. They must be downloaded directly from the manufacturer's official site. Install them manually and set them up according to instructions. Avoid using third-party installers or tools.
Be cautious with the sources of drivers. Just because a manufacturer appears in some listings or the URL seems legitimate doesn't guarantee it's the genuine source.
Utilize Device Manager to inspect the GPU's properties (tabs: General, Driver, Details, Events, Resources).
Review the Events tab for activity timestamps and descriptions.
You can also use Task Manager, Resource Monitor, or Process Explorer (Microsoft, free) to monitor system performance while the GPU is in use. Observe any changes in performance and focus on one tool at a time.

The pc is a fresh build from October 2024.
I own a GTX 1060 from a friend (hosted on a Zotac mini).
My setup includes a Seasonic B12 BC-850 (850w PSU).
The only components I've used are the GTX, with everything else brand new.
The issue is that Windows continues to treat the GTX as the main rendering card, even though I've selected the high-performance GPU (RX 6750 XT) and also adjusted settings for other apps. This leads me to suspect a problem in the NVIDIA panel, possibly overwriting the Windows configuration.
I'm new to NVIDIA and couldn't find any relevant settings online.
Click right-click on an empty space of your desktop.
A menu will appear allowing you to choose "Show more options" followed by the "Nvidia Control Panel".
Verify the relevant configuration options.
Another location to check is Task Manager > Startup. Identify if any NVIDIA applications or video-related programs are launching during Startup.
Also examine Task Scheduler, as certain video activities might start an app or tool.
Consider game-related settings too, such as "Game Bar".
The main goal is to quickly locate any connected configuration settings, grasp their functions, and assess whether adjusting them could effectively solve the issue.
Good news, I resolved the issue. I cleared any driver conflicts using DDU, reset the graphics settings on my PC, and reinstalled all drivers—everything worked now. Another possibility is that using Radeon Slim for the RX drivers might have caused problems, possibly due to removing something that affected the NVDIA drivers... Thanks for the advice and a quick reply. Have a great weekend!
