I managed to obtain keys for various Windows versions using Dreamspark and Premium, including Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro. It’s worth considering using Windows Embedded 8.1 on a Macbook Air for tasks like Visual Studio, despite some concerns about its suitability for general use. Many argue it’s better suited for specialized environments like kiosks or point-of-sale systems, but this doesn’t necessarily apply to 8.1 embedded. The main differences from standard 8.1 are the removal of Metro apps, disabled Windows App Store, and added security features. The main reason I’m asking is to take advantage of the extra storage space—Windows 8.1 on my Macbook Air only uses about 9GB, which is a significant improvement over the 128GB I have available.

I tested it inside Hyper-V, which made it easy to access without needing a key, saving me time on the exam. So far it feels similar to what I expected—Windows 8.1 with metro apps removed, allowing me to install and run my usual programs smoothly. Though it's labeled "Industry Pro," it's more like standard Windows 8.1 rather than the Pro version. Advanced security features such as the firewall aren't available, unlike in 8.1 Pro.

Hey, are you still using it? Do you have the latest Windows 10 updates? I also have the DreamSpark access, but I was just concerned about the embedded version being outdated compared to others or if it's been improved. Do you have any further thoughts since some time has passed? Thanks a bunch!
