I own a Ubiquiti AP-AC Long Range AP (UAP-AC-LR-US) purchased back in 2018. At first, I set up the device on my main PC, installed the software, and configured the network. After that, I upgraded to a new PC, formatted the old one, and lost the Ubiquiti setup. Now I’m using a Home Assistant instance with the UniFi Network Application running inside it. I need to bring my old AP back into UniFi under Home Assistant and add more APs for better coverage. The issue is I don’t remember the password I set on the original AP, so adoption isn’t possible. I usually store passwords in a manager, but I didn’t do that then. Is there a way to reset the device to factory settings so it behaves like a brand new unit? Probably not—since someone could easily take the AP and reset it, making it work as if nothing happened. But I’m hoping there’s a solution to integrate my existing AP into my new mesh network while it still functions well.

Thanks to @Falcon1986. From what I've seen online, it seems adopting the AP again would require knowing its password after it's been changed before. I didn't want to risk using an old one that might not work, especially if our Wi-Fi was down. My wife wouldn't like that. Maybe I'll go ahead and purchase a second AP now. That way, if my current one fails, we can get back up quickly.

It seems he's been getting guidance from a Meraki enthusiast.

I got my new U6-Pro APs and felt confident resetting the old U5-LR AP. Everything functioned smoothly as expected. Now I’m using my old U5-LR along with the three fresh U6-Pro APs, and everything is working perfectly.
