Using torrents to download Steam files
It would have been great to have that, thank you for your assistance.
Don't worry, I can't do that. If it were possible, everyone who saves money would have chosen this route. You can save the files and add the game to Steam. The main change is it won't be in the Steam section, so you won't get access to features like achievements, controller support, or big screen.
It seems he’s aiming to obtain the game for free but isn’t actually asking for free games. He wants to download the Steam version from another source and place it in the Steam folder so that installing via Steam becomes quick. He isn’t trying to deceive Steam for free games; he’s just looking for a way to install the game without using Steam. I don’t know if there’s a method to do this directly, but I’m not sure if uploading a torrent and letting Steam verify the files is an option before you finish downloading.
Causing fishing for TF2 links is a crime for a free game. I think OP has a bad problem with steam installation not remembering downloads. Might be better to try reinstalling Steam or check to see if some hard drive or software error is not letting steam write to disk, in which it will falsely assume its successfully downloading parts till you resume where it will check back on the download and see it doesn't exist.
I leave my computer running all night for a large download without using sleep. I just switch off the monitors, speakers, and keyboard lights. I think sleep mode isn't enabled.
Steam ensures your downloads are safely stored. You don’t need to save everything at once. It works better than torrents. If Steam isn’t preserving your progress, it’s likely a major issue you should address—searching for torrents won’t help.
