I recently installed a new PC featuring the i7-12700k and am puzzled about its benchmark performance. On Geekbench 5, my single-core score is about 1075 while the multi-core score sits at 9886—both significantly lower than the expected averages of 1904 and 14080 respectively. The system specs include an MSI Mag Tomahawk z690 with H100 i Elite, 16GB 3600MHz RAM, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD, and a 3080 Ti GPU powered by a 1000W PSU. Someone might have some insight into why it’s not meeting those benchmarks.

It's a highly customizable setup with varying components, which leads to diverse performance outcomes. Are you facing specific issues with your games or simply feeling discouraged by others' achievements?

It's reasonable to consider a CPU operating significantly below average performance as an issue. Did you check your temperatures and clock speeds during the test?

Check CPU-Z for detailed info on cores and threads, along with current speed. Use Task Manager to view cores and logical processors. A 10850K displays specific numbers; a 12700K should show around 8 performance + 4 efficiency cores (total 12) with 20 logical processors. Verify hyper threading in BIOS and msconfig. In Boot tab, disable the Number of processors checkbox. Run Cinebench R23 for comparison. Monitor CPU speed via CPU-Z during testing. In R23, set Minimum Test Duration to Off for single runs.

Thanks for the responses. It seems my settings were adjusted to 'Power saver,' which cut the CPU's speed in half. Switching to 'Ultimate performance' restored full power.
