In short, I created the setup about half a year ago and haven't experimented much with CPU overclocking since then. I'm currently using an Asrock B450 Pro4 and a Wraith Max cooler, still running 3.1 BIOS (planning updates). This board has some unusual configurations—no LLC support, and the voltage droop appears quite strong. I've achieved stable overclocks around 4GHz at 1.3V, but under load the core voltage drops significantly, sometimes by 40-60mV. I attempted a +50mV offset, which seems to be the default setting, but it keeps idling near that level. With auto offsets at 4GHz/1.3V, AIDA64 reaches peak around 84°C with brief spikes up to 92-93°C. No crashes or BSODs have occurred, though gaming is my main workload and I don’t expect those high temps. I suspect something in the BIOS might be missing. If anyone has overclocked on this board can you help me figure out the right adjustments? Also, what are the intended stock voltages? HWM and CPU-Z show 1.2V, but under load it falls to about 1.16V with a turbo around 3.7-3.8GHz across all cores—seems low to me.
Stock voltages vary slightly between CPUs, around 1.3 as a rough estimate. Unfortunately, this board lacks LLC support. It’s understandable to be concerned about voltage drops, but if it runs stably and works, it’s fine. My unit also drops to 1.27V under load at 4.1 GHz, which is acceptable for me.
I don’t have much time to test AIDA64 for over an hour. I’ve run various benchmarks, but so far there’s no instability detected. The only issue I notice is occasional temperature spikes during idle—temperatures rise about 8-10 degrees and then fall again. On stock it doesn’t behave that way. It seems like something in the BIOS might be the missing piece.
The temperature fluctuations might stem from an underutilized fan profile. I also experience similar spikes even when idle, so a manual adjustment could help. My system often hits 35°C during idle, rising to 40-45°C before dropping. It’s typical behavior. Please share or tag if you need further clarification.
I thought I resolved the issue by lowering the vcore to 1.24v and applying a +50mv offset. This helped stabilize the constant temperature fluctuations during idle or low usage. Even though I’m not sure why it worked, the idle speed remains at 1.28v and drops to 1.23v under load, matching the previous behavior.
