Hello. My issue seems to be related to memory usage. When I play games like Diablo IV, I often watch movies or stream TV shows on my second monitor. This activity consumes around 2 gigabytes of memory out of my total 16 gigabytes. Once the game starts, performance drops significantly, then it improves before experiencing heavy lag spikes. Diablo IV uses approximately 5.5 gigabytes of memory. Checking Task Manager shows it uses about 8 gigabytes under load while streaming. My monitoring tools (NZXT CAM and Task Manager) indicate I’m using 94% of my memory during these sessions. This is puzzling since I have 16 gigabytes available, and it’s not just with Diablo IV—it happens with most games I play. Multitasking becomes nearly impossible; even switching tabs takes a long time, and browsing the internet is slow unless I wait several minutes. I’m using Windows 11 Pro (64-bit) and both CPU-Z and Task Manager confirm the memory capacity. Anyone know what’s causing this? Could it be a faulty RAM stick or something else?

Check if the browser uses hardware acceleration. As long as the games are on the SSD and it isn<|pad|>, performance should be okay.

The browser uses hardware acceleration, and the games run on an m.2 drive that isn't fully utilized. Everything functioned well until about a year ago, when I first realized the issue and it has since worsened. That’s why I reached out for assistance.

Turn off the graphics acceleration. Remove unnecessary files. Your computer's hardware performs better than my gaming laptop in all aspects, so the alt key D4 should work fine since I don't have that problem.

Mentioned the issue in the initial post as well, noting it persists even after a clean Windows setup with only drivers installed. Tried Diablo, Dying Light 2, BF2042, and Firefox, and also a fresh install yesterday. Currently, I’m just streaming a movie with a few tabs open, and the task manager shows I’m using 57% of my memory. Despite having 16 gigabytes, I only have 8 gigabytes of RAM.

Task Manager and NZXT CAM aren't reliable. Do you believe Windows also requires RAM? About 57% of a 16GB usage when Firefox is open is typical, but applications tend to use more memory when needed. Is your RAM operating in dual-channel mode?

It's confirmed in dual channel mode. Initially, I assumed Windows 11 required around 4GB of RAM, which suggests a maximum of 16GB when gaming and streaming together. *Note:* I just realized my calculation was off, but it's close enough to indicate a cap. The explanation is clear now. Thank you.
