You're thinking about using your mobile as an Ethernet hub for your PC. That's possible, but it depends on your ISP's setup. They might not support that configuration easily. Your idea of placing the phone in a better-connected area and running Ethernet from there is a good approach. It could help improve stability, especially with your current 4G issues inside the flat.

Even then, the velocities would remain extremely low.

I usually achieve good performance on my PC by using my Google Pixel 2 as a mobile hotspot (with solid 4G coverage), and I can also connect via a USB-C to RJ45 adapter to bring my home internet into my phone’s wired setup. I haven’t attempted to give my computer a direct wired connection from my phone before. I’ll check later tonight after work when I’m home.

Usually phones support Wi-Fi connectivity, but Ethernet isn’t available unless you specifically request it. It’s possible to connect a phone to a bridge setup using an Ethernet cable, though I’m not sure about the details.
