I just got a free CPU, cooler, and GPU for my first PC setup using an MSI B550 board. A friend offered to trade his used X470-F for $80, which would save me about $20 plus taxes. I’m not very familiar with the differences between these chipsets, and it’s a bit confusing. Could someone help me decide which one is better for my build?
Two updates planned in the build. Consider a phanteks P300A, 360A or 400A—they all have strong support already. I’ll go with the 850W just to ensure there’s enough power as cards become more demanding. The board choice is safe. Just remember PCIe 4.0 won’t be available with the 5000 series chips.
I choose the X470 Strix, it fits your setup perfectly and offers a superior experience. It's also more affordable. Make sure to refresh the BIOS if the prior owner didn't update it.
