You might attempt launching Windows in safe mode and then install the chipset driver.

I'm not trying hard enough and I'm forcing it to start from the SSD. All other drives are turned off.

mbr2gpt is the solution for UEFI startup. The process is straightforward, though you won't see significant gains beyond a few seconds of quicker boot time. Older boot methods still work well too.
