Collected a few used X99 boards bundles recently, exchanged parts I needed and sold the rest. After installing what I thought was a 32GB kit (8x4GB), I discovered it actually contained two 16GB (4x4GB) kits. The Asus X99 Deluxe II (i7-5960X) board I kept doesn’t recognize both kits at the same time. Both kits are fully operational, and all memory slots are detected—double checked everything—but the system still can’t detect both being connected. The kits are identical (Corsair LPX 2133MHz 16GB). I’m puzzled about what might be wrong. I thought this was a quad-channel motherboard and possibly misremembered the installation sequence. I searched for a 16GB (8x2GB) kit but found it hard to locate, and several fixes I tried didn’t resolve the issue. Could there be something obvious I’m missing? TLDR: Bought an Asus X99 Deluxe II motherboard, have two working 16GB (4x4) Corsair LPX kits that won’t work together when plugged in, and I’m unsure if I’m doing it wrong. Am I missing a simple step? Open to suggestions.
It should have been Slots A1, B1, C1, and D1 filled with four sticks as per Asus guidelines. I’m not sure if you applied that setting yet, but I wanted to confirm.
I followed the configuration guide on the board. I placed the dimmer units numerically using their serial suffix numbers that matched the kit codes (36 through 43). Then I arranged them in the designated slots: A1/36, B1/37, C1/38, D1/39, A2/40, B2/41, C2/42, D2/43. Only C1 and C2 were filled, while D1 and D2 remained empty. Any suggestions?
