It seems background tasks might be interfering with your game. Check if any system processes are running in the background and see if they’re affecting performance. You could also try restarting your computer or updating drivers.

Performing an anti-malware check now. I’ll verify what’s detected and note how long this process has been running.

Occasionally Mine does unexpectedly launch Chrome. I've learned to live with that occasional oddity.

I used MalwareBytes to check, but AVG spotted two malicious programs hiding in a folder within my projects. I’ll confirm whether the issue still exists after removing them.

The simplest approach is to launch Task Manager, navigate to the Processes tab, click on your game, right-click and choose Set Priority, then select High. This will place it at the top of all running tasks. It shouldn't interfere with other applications but will prevent it from pulling you back to the desktop. Likely reason is Windows Update Center.

It’s a major warning sign; a comprehensive malware check is likely necessary.

It seems like a program in your taskbar is handling this. I encounter it occasionally with certain games and applications. Switching to fullscreen might resolve it. If that doesn't work, clearing some items from the taskbar could help. It's unlikely to be malware, but if others confirm it, running a scan would be wise.
