I primarily run Windows for gaming, though I try to use it less. My laptop uses MacOS as my main system, and Linux is on the Plex server.
I would love to run Linux... I'm stuck with Windows due to: MS office suite, Matlab, Adobe suite (mainly PS and acrobat pro), Cinema 4D and sometimes gaming. I've learned that gaming is possible on Linux now, but not everything functions smoothly and those programs listed won't work. I could adapt to alternatives, but as far as I know, graphics and design tools won't change much. P.S. I'm aware of the MS 365 browser version, but I can't use it. Also, it's frustrating when Linux distros feel okay until you're at a friend's LAN party and everything works natively on Windows, while I have to deal with troubleshooting (something I enjoy in my free time but not when it's urgent).
I favor Linux (Ubuntu) but switch to Windows 10 for certain tasks.
My primary Windows PC meets all my requirements. It runs the necessary software (Sony Vegas, Davinci Resolv, AfterEffects, FruityLoops) and supports all the game launchers I use without needing Linux versions or workarounds. While I can achieve similar results on Linux, restrictions are a major concern for me when I just want them to function properly. I currently use around a dozen Linux virtual machines for automation, virtual desktops, scripting, and media services like Plex.
