For safety, I focus on setting up multiple VLANs in a modest home setup. Users need wireless access to different virtual networks. Most home routers don’t handle VLAN (802.1Q); those that do might not offer good performance, flexibility, or availability. I thought about the pcWRT Newifi-D2, but it’s currently out of stock. If I create my own router, I want to avoid relying heavily on external WAPs and pre-made devices. Using software like OPNsense or IPFire, can I turn in-built adapters—such as the Intel AX210.NGWG or some motherboard models like the GIGABYTE Z690I AORUS ULTRA LITE DDR4 (rev. 1.0)—into access points that support VLAN? The wiki says it’s possible, but I’m not sure. As someone without technical experience, I’d like a clear, simple explanation.

You have a TP-Link TL-WA1201 access point that supports multiple SSIDs, allowing you to assign each VLAN to a specific SSID.

It supports multiple SSIDs, though the exact number isn't specified. One improvement would be enhancing its performance in crowded environments. Thanks for your prompt response.

You can configure four SSIDs at 2.4Ghz and five at 5Ghz, each with its own password. It meets all my requirements.
