I got a notice from my ISP about someone using my IP address. I added popular sites to my router’s block list, but it seems they can still download if they have the torrent file. I’m not an expert, but I want to stop this quickly so I don’t risk legal trouble. I have two suspects—one is a real person and I suspect that one. I haven’t been able to prove it yet. I’d prefer to block them right away to avoid any issues. Port blocking could help, but I’m not sure if it’s the best approach.

Based on the router, there could be an option to block BitTorrent. Whether it actually works isn't clear. For me, it doesn't help. Another approach would be changing the Wi-Fi password and avoiding sharing it with the DB. Or suggesting they use a VPN, which limits their access. If you're paying for the service, you control whether they can connect.

Bittorrent is built specifically to circumvent restrictions, making it impossible to block directly.

Turning off UPNP offers some relief, though torrents will remain but performance will suffer and users might become frustrated. The main drawback is losing access to UPNP privileges as well. If your connection changes, update the password or MAC filter and inform them no one should have internet until you confirm who is using it and they cease activity—they’ll likely pressure each other soon.
